Student Testimonials

Zhang Pan

“I’m Zhang Pan from Shandong, studying IT in Singapore. I chose Singapore because tuition is relatively affordable, qualifications are well recognised, and everyday life is convenient and driven by technology. It also feels quite similar to home.

In class, learning is taken seriously. In group presentations, lecturers make sure everyone truly contributed and understood the content, and written exams are strictly supervised, so you really have to earn your grades.

Outside class, the multicultural atmosphere stands out. Even public holidays reflect different cultures.

Education and career guidance helped me match my major to suitable schools and set GPA targets. This gave me another path amid intense competition back home, with credentials that are recognised.

My tip: stay focused in class so you can keep up and do well.

After graduation: I plan to apply for a master’s and work toward a higher degree score.

To friends in China: come to Singapore; you will gain unforgettable memories and a one of a kind experience. The three that sum up my Singapore experience are: Surprise, Joy, and Anticipation.”

Wang Yike

“I’m Wang Yike from Zhejiang, studying Computer Science in Singapore. I chose Singapore because it feels safe and it is close to home, which gives my parents peace of mind. I was also drawn to how the courses emphasize practical skills that are useful for future employment.

In class, bilingual teaching makes a real difference. When I got stuck on a programming problem, the teacher explained it in Chinese and shared real-world cases, and the concept finally clicked. Day to day, I benefit from being able to ask questions in Chinese when needed, from an international learning environment that broadens my horizons, and from frequent programming assignments that build hands-on ability.

Life outside class is comforting and fun. I go to Chinatown when I miss the flavours of home, and on weekends I often cycle at East Coast Park with classmates to relax.

Studying here has made me more independent and better at managing my time. My school offers regular career services and employment seminars. I plan to make use of these to learn more about finding a job in Singapore.

My advice for future students is simple: keep improving your English even if you can communicate in Chinese, plan your budget after understanding local living costs, and talk to your teachers often because they are willing to help. If a friend in China asked me whether to study in Singapore, I would say you can enjoy quality education without worrying about language barriers or culture shock.

After graduation, I hope to work at a tech company in Singapore for a few years to gain experience before considering a return to China. The three words that sum up my Singapore experience are: Secure, Fulfilling, and Growth.

Hsu Kai-Po

I’m Hsu Kai-Po from Taiwan, studying in Singapore. I chose Singapore because it is safe, multicultural, and English is widely used, which makes both studying and daily life convenient. It is also close to home, so my family feels at ease.

In class, we learn by doing. In one core module, my team treated a group project like a real job for a local company. We talked to users, built a prototype, and presented our solution to the stakeholders. It showed me exactly how classroom skills are used at work.

Everyday life is easy to navigate. Public transport is excellent, the city feels clean and safe, and the food choices are amazing. On weekends I explore parks and museums, and there are simple options for short trips to nearby islands or Malaysia.

Studying here has helped me grow. My English communication, independence, and time management have improved. I also built practical skills through projects and internships, learned to work with diverse teams, and started a small professional network.

My tips for future students are simple. Apply early and prepare your documents well. Consider on-campus or shared housing to manage costs. Set a monthly budget that includes transport and food, and hawker centres are friendly to your wallet. Improve spoken English before you arrive and join student clubs to make friends and build your network.

After graduation, I plan to continue to a bachelor’s degree or take an internship or entry-level role in cyber security. My time in Singapore has given me hands-on experience, stronger communication and teamwork, and a better feel for workplace culture. The three words that sum up my Singapore experience are Practical, Multicultural, and Empowering.
